Working Principle:

• Plant material is boiled with water or steam.

Main Components:

1. Distillation Flask

3. Clevenger Oil Trap (Receiver Arm)

4. Graduated Tube

   • Allows oil (lighter) to float above the water layer or vice versa, depending on density.

5. Water Inlet and Outlet Ports

   • Allow circulation of cold water through the condenser for efficient cooling.

Working Principle:

1. The plant material is boiled in water inside the distillation flask.

2. Steam carries the volatile oils into the condenser.

3. In the condenser, the steam-oil vapor condenses into a liquid.

4. The liquid flows into the oil trap, where the oil separates from the water.

5. The volume of oil is read directly from the graduated portion.
