A wash bottle is a common piece of laboratory equipment used to rinse various pieces of glassware and to dispense small quantities of liquids.

• Design: It is usually a squeezable plastic bottle (commonly made of polyethylene) with a narrow bent tube/nozzle at the top.

• Working: By squeezing the bottle, liquid inside is forced out through the nozzle in a controlled stream or jet.

• Capacity: Typically ranges from 125 ml to 1000 ml.

• Rinsing laboratory glassware such as test tubes, flasks, burettes, pipettes, and beakers.

• Dispensing solvents like distilled water, ethanol, acetone, or other cleaning agents.

• Useful for adding liquids dropwise or in a fine stream to experiments.

• Plastic wash bottle – lightweight and flexible, most commonly used.

• Glass wash bottle – less common, used for special applications.

• Printed wash bottles – marked with chemical names (e.g., Acetone, Ethanol, Distilled Water) for safety.
